On Friday 28th October the Scottish Plant Owners Association, hosted its first Dinner Dance since October 2019. This year we were welcomed, for the first time, to the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club and were entertained by the awesome Studio – a 6 piece covers band.
As always the event was a massive success raising £4,722 for the SPOA Charity – Aitken & White Memorial Trust. The SPOA Charity receives a massive 50% of profits from all SPOA events and this money goes, amongst other things, directly to encouraging young people into the industry and helping those young people already in the industry.
At the SPOA we have been working hard over the last few years to encourage diversity within the Plant industry and as such it was incredible to see that this year over 40% of attendees were Woman.
A special mention was given to Gordon Bow, (of Gordon Bow Plant Hire) one of the longest serving SPOA Committee members, who celebrated 40 years in business during the week of the Dance.
Mark Anderson, SPOA Past President and organizer along with David Allan said:
“It was fantastic to celebrate the SPOA and the Plant Industry in general at this years dinner after a trying few years for us all. The atmosphere, venue and band were second to none and it was an honour to be able to celebrate a stalwart of the industry, Gordon Bow, during the dinner.”
We now look ahead to our Annual Dinner in February and the return of the Dinner Dance late 2023.
